Based on a previously built human-sized puppet the aim of the workshop was to find new possibilites and solutions to control up to 20 ropes attached to the puppet by using simple mechanics. As a result modules were developed, which consist of an Arduino board, a DC gear motor and a wooden wheel attached to the rope. These modules can be controlled individually via a serial connection from a custom software (based on Processing) running on a computer. This way different motion patterns can be designed and saved as presets in the software.

Beside that first experiments were done to track the motion of a human body in a simple and very analog way. In a next step the tracking data can be used to control the puppet again – it becomes an avatar of the tracked person.
