By using the Arduino Board an introduction to the world of sensors and actuators was given. Generally sensors can be used to measure certain physical or chemical properties of our environment. With the help of the Arduino board this data can be translated into the behaviour of connected actuators (light emitting diodes, motors, speakers etc.).

Using low-tech sensors and actuator technology autonomous sound objects were developed which react to their environment. The participants learnt fundamental basics in electronics and how to use the Arduino environment to bring their sound objects to life – from hacking existing sound toys to constructing mechanical sound generators.
